Weight-lifter leaf

Another nature's surprise for me this year is this massive water lily leaf (or lily-pad) that can hold 30 kilos of anything! It is said that water lilies grow best in calm water, like this one in the picture which was taken when we visited an ancient site last month. They look more beautiful with their flowers (see the buds coming out?) Nobody wanted to try stepping on a leaf so we put the heaviest bag on one, and guess what? We didn't see any movement at all, it never showed any sway and even the water kept still. Wow! The leaf looks so thin but it is unbelievably strong! The word "immovable and steadfast" came to mind. This is how one should look like when heavily laden....I pray to be like one.

Doubts and mistrust are the mere panic of timid imagination, which the steadfast heart will conquer, and the large mind transcend.

Helen Keller quotes (American Author and Educator who was blind and deaf. 1880-1968)

International Standard Version (©2008)
Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that the work that you do for the Lord isn't wasted. 1 Corinthians 15:58
