I have a birthday request.....

Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, "I, the LORD, am the maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens by Myself And spreading out the earth all alone..."Isaiah 44:24
I am on a birthday retreat on top of a mountain somewhere in China. I'm praising God for this life He has given me and for His 40 years of faithfulness, well, 40 years and 9 months, counting from the day I was conceived.
I'm having mixed emotions right now... The family is in spread in 3 countries. Either the world has gone smaller for us, or the kids (and parents) have gone older to be away from us.

But I'm trying to concentrate on my goal why I'm here....

I cannot blog more while I'm here because I can only use the computer in a small cafe. Will surely post more pictures when I'm back to the city.

I have a birthday request....please pray for Thailand. My girls are left  with my siblings and their families in the capital city which is chaotic right now.

Thank you for your prayers.

A White Flower For Peace....

This flower is for my beloved host country. I pray that the clashes between two political colors will soon end.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

Thank you for praying for peace to be soon restored in My Beloved Host Country.

My Beloved Host Country......

...needs your prayer now.

I've taken this photo weeks ago. I thought the graffiti artist had brilliantly interpreted the nation's present political crisis. Two colored groups in clash tied together by the country's national flag.

The traffic was fast so I didn't get some part of the picture in the frame.
Yesterday, I drove by again and aimed to get a better shot. I didn't, but at least I got the missing part.

The clash between the red and yellow groups has been going on for months now.
Some areas in our city are now declared as "live fire zones".

Image from Bangkok Post. A vendor in the Bon Kai area takes cover under a plastic stool as troops clash with  protesters.

This is not the Thailand that I knew before.....

Although this is not the kind of post that I want in my blog but I believe I should not be silent about it.
Thank you for praying.

Sky Without Limit

Living in a big city limits me from taking good photos of the sky. There are always these power lines where ever I turn to.

But yesterday, while driving a friend to the airport,  I had a delightful time of taking photos of the sky. No power lines ruining my shots.

I love the cottony texture of the clouds.
I was surprised to see the skytrain that links the airport to the city is finally operating.

Our city has good expressway to the airport.

This is a favorite shot! Gorgeous sky in early evening. It felt like driving back to the city of light. I wish!
My beautiful host city has been under political storm for months now.  May enlightenment come upon both opposing colored groups.

but to add color to my sunset sky."

Thanksgiving In Chiang Mai.....

Two years ago, a dear friend invited us to Chiang Mai, Thailand for a short vacation. It was a good time for a much needed break... a blessed time for the whole family to pause, count blessings, and realize how faithful God has been in our lives.

We checked in a hotel near a river.

We had a nice dinner in a cozy restaurant by the river.

We had our happy moments...

We were awed by God's goodness.

God bless our dear friend who generously arranged everything for us there.

Thank you, God, for providing all our needs and for granting the desires of our hearts.

Thank you for the opportunities to travel and see beautiful places.

Thank you for the gift of friendship.

"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us....."

A flower..and A Salute to All Women

I was in a seminar last month where the speaker asked a representative from each table to go out and pick anything from nature. The sweet lady from our group came back with 2 sweet smelling Rosal (Gardenia) in her hand.
We were told to study the qualities of the flower we had to see how this particular creation speaks of the character of the Creator.

Then, we studied the qualities of a woman....

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;
male and female He created them.  Genesis 1:27
I thank God for creating me in His image and likeness.

If I make a home
If I conceive a child
carry a child
nurture a child
raise and educate a child
This is ministry work
These fundamental human activities are
ordained by God
valued by God
And only a fool does not esteem them.

"You have a beautiful wife"

I was the last one to join the family at the breakfast table yesterday. Everyone noticed me in my new shirt. One of the girls patted their dad's shoulder and said with an approving smile, "You have a beautiful wife."  That really made my heart swell!

One mealtime, we were having so much fun. I now forgot all the jokes we shared while eating but one line that really stuck clear to me was this:
"Thank you Dad and Mom for marrying each other."

My 3 children have different personalities but one thing common to them is that they're so full of loving words to say. And if loving words were badges, I would be heavy with them.

Thank you, Naomi and Zoe for the gifts you made for me. Thank you, Ben, for the beautiful greetings you wrote in your blog.

Happy Mother's Day To All!

Sky Drama in Songkla

Nobody seemed to care to look up and watch the drama in the sky. This was maybe a common sight for the local people, but for me it was a moment to behold.
"He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams; the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind. Who can understand how he spreads out the clouds, how he thunders from his pavilion? See how he scatters his lighting about him, bathing the depths of the sea. This is the way he governs the nations and provides food in abundance. He fills his hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark. His thunder announces the coming storm; even the cattle make known its approach."
Job 36:27-33

Rain Showers....

We finally had our first big rain yesterday after months of surviving under unusual summer heat of 35-42C. Rain...what a wonderful gift from above!

Though nature has it, it's still up to God when to give showers of rain to us. It is in His great mercy and love that we have rain in due season. I am thankful for every drop of it.

 Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime;
it is the LORD who makes the storm clouds.
He gives showers of rain to men,
and plants of the field to everyone.
 Zechariah 10:1

As the rain and the snow
       come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
       without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11

What are you thankful for this week? Let's count our blessings together.
