Update: Pomegranates In My Garden

  A month ago I posted about my pomegranate tree when these fruits where just blooms.

Now, they're turning yellow!

I am the vine; you are the branches.

Mushrooms In My Yard

I saw them one morning in one corner of my yard.

Are they edible? I investigated but still not sure.

So I just considered them as another beauty to behold.

They're here only a day but in a snap I can preserve their beauty to immortality.

Hong Kong Airport Floor Reflection

Have you experienced walking on a shiny marble or glass floor and suddenly you held back your step because you thought you were stepping on nothing?

Great Opportunity For Bloggers

I mentioned in my previous post that I was venturing into being a paid writer. Well, it's a dream coming true. Writing itself is already a joy (because it is one of my "green pastures"). What more if the writer got paid for the work he/she enjoys doing?

I'm excited to share that just this week I've enjoyed rewards for little favors I've done to the advertisers. It was a good challenge of creativity but no sweat! I'm all smile now.

Extra Pleasures

This week I have been counting my extra blessings. These are things I CAN live without but God blessed me with them and they give extra pleasure at present. He knows my heart's delight. And I take delight in Him.

The hammock in my patio. I sit here to rest after gardening.

My coffee maker . I've enjoyed unlimited cups of freshly brewed coffee.

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory;
No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. 
Psalm 84:11

The sofa in the corner of my bedroom. It's a gift from a friend. It's where I read books, blog, or crochet. My friend knew it was my idea of a green pasture.

Delight yourself in the LORD
       and He will give you the desires of your heart.

 My laptop. I've done many projects with it! 

My pocket camera. It's with me all the time. It's always in my purse when I go out and it hangs on my neck when I'm at home. God knows I love photography.

I shall make mention of the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has granted us....

The list goes on and on. I'm so blessed. God has lavished me with His goodness. I must keep a thankful heart.

A Week That Was

Sunday - July 11, 2010
After the girls' dance lesson, we went out for dinner and play. We tried a Vietnamese restaurant but promised not to go back again. The food was okay but they have hidden charges aside from what is on menu.

Monday - July 12, 2010
The girls are into gardening as part of their Practical Arts lesson,aside fro crocheting. We went our to shop for seeds potted plants and garden soil. I'm hoping one of then will pick this as a hobby.

Tuesday - July 13, 2010
Our Reading program is almost done. I'm so blessed to see friendships forming among the students. Also very happy that we were able to purchase proper tables and chairs for our classroom. God answers prayer!

We're now planning for our next program. Help pray for volunteers.

Wednesday - July 14, 2010
DH and I went to the local wet market to buy crabs. He cooked a special dinner for us. It's always a treat when he does that!

Thursday - July 14, 2010
There was a passing storm. We were on the road when heavy rain started to pour. I prayed hard as DH drove. The water on the road was deep.

Friday - July 16, 2010
I was trying to find rest amid daily routine. A blogger-friend advised me to eat raw unprocessed food. I was blessed to have a man selling fresh fruit in his cart outside our gate.

Saturday - July 17, 2010
I worked almost half day in the garden. I pulled out all my zinnias to give the soil a little rest and then plant new ones. This is my last bunch of zinnias. It's good to bring the freshness of the gaden inside the house.
DH and I baked wheat bread. It's good to have fresh home-baked bread on the table. But it's also good to be reminded that man does not live on bread alone...

I thank the Lord for the week that passed. All needs were met as He promised.

A Task , An Opportunity

I looked outside from our classroom on the third floor. I could hear tiny feet running down the stairs. My students ran fast to beat time. 

They wanted to play before parents call them for supper. I, too, needed to be home to prepare supper for my family.

Our class ended at 6:30pm, just about time when the street lights turned on.
"You have this opportunity to study English for free, don't waste it." I would tell everyone before we start our lesson. They understood how expensive English programs were in this city, so they gladly gave their attention to me.

"Class is over!" What a relief for all of us. A task yet an opportunity, for them to study, for me to serve, to touch precious young lives.

That day is past. I saw it once and will never see it again. What was done is done.
For me and my students, we did our best.

I will pass this way but once if there's any good that I can do

Thank God For Beds!

When I was a teenager, I asked an older friend if there were beds in heaven. "I don't think so, my dear, because in heaven there are no more darkness. There should be no more nights so we don't need to sleep." Heaven instantly became unappealing to me! So never tell a teenager who loves sleep that there are no beds in heaven.

If you were a frequent visitor, you would notice that I haven't blogged for many days. It's because I'm trying to rest and get more sleep as I can. I'm feeling overworked and there are days when I'm all drained and what is left is just enough to make me crawl under cover, lay my head and dose off. Have you had those days?I'm sure you were most thankful for having a place to lay your aching back. Or were you too tired to even think of that! I attended a bridal shower party one time and one advice given to the bride to be was: invest on a good bed!
"Oh, thank you, God, for my bed!" I'm not sure how many times dear husband heard me say this but I always do, especially this week. Isn't it a blessing to have our own bed? There were years in my teenage life where I slept in our sofa. I could only own it late at night. So,whatever bed you have now, may it be bunk bed, twin beds or a posh one, thank God that you have your own!

And what I know, heaven is a place of REST, (and there are mansions there) most likely there must be beds there, and for sure it's a lot better than what I have now!

"The Sky Is Falling!"

 Maybe the title reminded you of Chicken Little...I almost shouted the same thing!

I was out in the garden early morning and took delight on the blossoms of our rose apple tree. I snapped a photo and then something caught my attention....

It's the sky! It looked different from normal.

It was so close like just above my head.

 I felt a bit eerie being out alone early that morning, but funny, I didn't forget to snap a picture.

Have you had this kind of experience? When things suddenly became surreal?

That morning I was reminded that there are bigger things than myself; far, far bigger than my concerns at that time. Someone was catching my attention off myself.

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, 
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

Good Friends, Good Food, Good Sight, Good God

Our good friends took us to the floating restaurant. We met the couple just few years ago and they became real good friends. We have different native languages but we can talk heart to heart.

The restaurant is on the river, hence the name. We've been out for good meals with a big group but that was our first to be just the four of us. So it was special.

The big dining area was full of people but our hosts managed to find a table by the window. The serene river was very relaxing to see.

In few hours we forgot we were in a busy city. It was a good time to enjoy the company of friends.

They fed us with the food close to their heart. Ahhh, those food we used to enjoy...we savored them with much delight not just because of the taste but of the loving hospitality that was shown to us.

What a good God we have for He lavished us with many blessings!


I thank God for all the friends He has blessed me, particularly for T & D. May He shower them with His blessings today and always.

I thank God for all the good "cultural" food I've tasted. Every place has it's own, and it tells so much about the culture. I now understood why some foreigners say that the food in my country is bland for there are many otherspices and flavors I have yet to savor and enjoy.
