Update: Pomegranates In My Garden

A month ago I posted about my pomegranate tree when these fruits where just blooms.

Now, they're turning yellow!

I am the vine; you are the branches.
If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit;
apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5

Hong Kong Airport Floor Reflection

Have you experienced walking on a shiny marble or glass floor and suddenly you held back your step because you thought you were stepping on nothing?

That happened to me many times and I never liked the "falling" feeling!

In our journey in this life where there are many unknown holes and pits, we can hold on to the promise that...

He will not let your feet slip or fall.
He who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep.
Psalm 121:3

Dusk By The Lake

From dawn to dusk, the Lord's name I praise.
I sing His song in the night.
To Him my voice I raise.

Extra Pleasures

This week I have been counting my extra blessings. These are things I CAN live without but God blessed me with them and they give extra pleasure at present. He knows my heart's delight. And I take delight in Him.

The hammock in my patio. I sit here to rest after gardening.

My coffee maker . I've enjoyed unlimited cups of freshly brewed coffee.

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory;
No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11

The sofa in the corner of my bedroom. It's a gift from a friend. It's where I read books, blog, or crochet. My friend knew it was my idea of a green pasture.

Delight yourself in the LORD
and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4
My laptop. I've done many projects with it!

My pocket camera. It's with me all the time. It's always in my purse when I go out and it hangs on my neck when I'm at home. God knows I love photography.

I shall make mention of the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has granted us....
Isaiah 63:7

The list goes on and on. I'm so blessed. God has lavished me with His goodness. I must keep a thankful heart.

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all,
how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
Romans 8:32

A Week That Was

Sunday - July 11, 2010
After the girls' dance lesson, we went out for dinner and play. We tried a Vietnamese restaurant but promised not to go back again. The food was okay but they have hidden charges aside from what is on menu.

Monday - July 12, 2010
The girls are into gardening as part of their Practical Arts lesson, aside from crocheting. We went our to shop for seeds potted plants and garden soil. I'm hoping one of then will pick this as a hobby.

Tuesday - July 13, 2010
Our Reading program is almost done. I'm so blessed to see friendships forming among the students. Also very happy that we were able to purchase proper tables and chairs for our classroom. God answers prayer!

We're now planning for our next program. Help pray for volunteers.

Wednesday - July 14, 2010
DH and I went to the local wet market to buy crabs. He cooked a special dinner for us. It's always a treat when he does that!

Thursday - July 14, 2010
There was a passing storm. We were on the road when heavy rain started to pour. I prayed hard as DH drove. The water on the road was deep.

Friday - July 16, 2010
I was trying to find rest amid daily routine. A blogger-friend advised me to eat raw unprocessed food. I was blessed to have a man selling fresh fruit in his cart outside our gate.

Saturday - July 17, 2010
I worked almost half day in the garden. I pulled out all my zinnias to give the soil a little rest and then plant new ones. This is my last bunch of zinnias. It's good to bring the freshness of the gaden inside the house.
DH and I baked wheat bread. It's good to have fresh home-baked bread on the table. But it's also good to be reminded that man does not live on bread alone...

I thank the Lord for the week that passed. All needs were met as He promised.

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
Matthew 4:4

Weekend Reflection

The night's rain filled the vat.
The morning sunshine made the outer part dry.
Time stilled the water, clearly reflecting the sky.

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.
~Lao Tzu

Adopt the pace of nature:  her secret is patience.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone,
but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.

A Task, An Opportunity

I looked outside from our classroom on the third floor. I could hear tiny feet running down the stairs. My students ran fast to beat time.

They wanted to play before parents call them for supper. I, too, needed to be home to prepare supper for my family.

Our class ended at 6:30pm, just about time when the street lights turned on.

"You have this opportunity to study English for free, don't waste it." I would tell everyone before we start our lesson. They understood how expensive English programs were in this city, so they gladly gave their attention to me.

"Class is over!" What a relief for all of us. A task yet an opportunity, for them to study, for me to serve, to touch precious young lives.

That day is past. I saw it once and will never see it again. What was done is done.
For me and my students, we did our best.

I will pass this way but once if there's any good that I can do
Let me do it now for I'll never pass this way again
I will see this day but once if there's any kindness I can show
Let me show it now for I'll never see this day again..
-Song Lyrics by Glen Campbell

Daddy's Girl...Like Mother Like Daughter

" I read your blog in my office ."  Those words came as a beautiful tune and set my heart to dancing. My Pa reads my blog. Ha...
