A Command, Not An Option

How often do you easily panic? You are like those men on the boat with Him that stormy night.
You are not asked to be still, you are commanded to. It is hard, isn't it? So take this word again as a command from Him who calmed the sea with the same words, and you'll see that He is God who could do miracle by calming your heart.

I'm preaching to myself here.

Ruth,

This is an excellent truth but not always so easy to do. However, thanks for the reminder.

beautiful picture and such a good verse

I love it!!! The verse is great by itself, but paired with that shot it has so much more depth! I think so many people rush through their day and if they actually did stop and listen for God, they'd find Him!

Love this post.It really is rewarding for us to be still and know HE is God in everything.

Lovely verse to go along with your scenic photo. We may not see it but God has everything under control but at times it is such a hard concept to accept especially when we come up against hurdles in our everyday lives. God Bless you sister :) Rosie

This verse is one of my favorite. I am learning at this season of my life, to still my self before HIM. Great illustration with the photo.

Ruth, I had to come back and tell you this - I left my earlier comment before going to church this morning, and once into the service a little, the choir sang just a few lines which were: "Be still and know that I am God" - and they have NEVER just sang a few lines before. So I thought "oh, that's funny timing!" Then a little later in the service they sang a different song about being still and listening for God. Then I started thinking "uhoh, I wasn't listening the first two times I heard this today!"

...thanks for getting the ball rolling for me to actually take the time to be still! :)

What an amazing picture you chose to go with this verse. I am quick to admit that sometimes I totally forget or purposely forget to be still and know God when trials come. It is great to know that no matter what HE still loves me and wants me to be close to Him.
