Lantana: My Childhood Flower

It's scent is not pleasant but it brings back happy memories of my childhood. This flower used to fill my basket during Flores de Mayo or May Flower Festival where we throw flowers in the air and sing songs of adoration to God. It was a religious ritual brought by the Spaniards to my home country. I was too young to understand the meaning then but the feeling of being part of a community (of children) doing the same thing was satisfying and it comes back whenever I smell the scent of this flower.

How about you? Do you have a childhood flower?

To pick a flower is so much more satisfying than just observing it,
or photographing it ...  So in later years, I have grown in my
garden as many flowers as possible for children to pick.

Aren't they so pretty. I love the colors playing the petals. This flower is so dainty and tiny but it exudes total beauty!

Oh! this is so beautiful, your photographs just capture the moment. Not sure about a childhood flower, but we used to spend hours making daisy chains.

Ruth, What pretty flowers! I don't have flower memories from my childhood, but one of my favorites now is brunnera--Siberian bugloss. Its tiny blue spring flowers are such a vivid herald to spring.

Blessings on your day,
Christine

I like your mosaic, because myself this flowers remind me at the warmth of summer. In the middle of your mosaic it looks like a white heart, so beautiful!

These are beautiful photos. I have loved this flower ever since I came to the Philippines. It's like "flowers within a flower".

Love you! Ate Theresa

we call this flower "baho-baho" because of its unpleasant scent.:p but they're very pretty!

These are beautiful - and so many different color combos! The flower that brings back the most childhood memories for me is a bleeding heart. My great grandma had them in her garden and she'd always let me pick a bouquet when I visited! :)

" I read your blog in my office ."  Those words came as a beautiful tune and set my heart to dancing. My Pa reads my blog. Ha...
