Praying For Japan...

Our homeschool program initiated a Postcard Exchange Project few months ago. One goal, aside from learning Geography, is to send back a prayer of blessings each time we receive a postcard to the country/state/city/family where it is from.

Today, after dh announced another postcard in the mailbox, I took my camera and snapped a shot as Naomi opened the box.

Goosebumps... it's posted from JAPAN!

Of all countries... Japan needs our prayer the most. So we pray for the country which was hit by a tsunami caused by a massive 8.9 magnitude quake, the largest so far in the history of Japan.

We also pray for the family who sent this postcard.

Thank you, Clarissa, for the beautiful postcard. We hope you are away from the affected area, and that you and your family are in a safe condition.

Please also pray for my sister in-law and her family who live there. As I write this, we have not received any communications from them yet. Thank you.

Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

This program has a great impact in children's education.
Beautiful post.
My thoughts are with the suffering Japanese too, in this great, still ongoing tragedy, that doesn't seem to reach an end.

It is valuable when children learn about other countries and their way of living and traditions.
I am shocked about the devastation the earthquake and tsunami have brought to the north of Japan.

There are never coincidences with God - timely for a reason. I too will remember your family over there in prayer at this tragic time along with Clarrisa.

I am so glad to know you are OK, because one of the news here in the US said it might affect your host country, and you came to mind.
I need to send your girls a post card. Love the idea. when Anna was in grade school we participated as part of a post card exchange. she loved it!

I pray that your family and friends are safe in Japan. It's so sad and tragic how quickly natural disasters can destroy so much.

Ruth,

I pray that you will hear from your sister-in-law and her family soon.

This devestation in Japan has greatly bothered me. I really don't like to think about so many people being killed, injured, hurt, etc. It truly breaks my heart. :(

At any rate, these are scary times for everyone. Let us pray that the Lord will see us through all this current madness!
